1st CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot 4th and 5th April 2017

As the „gateway to the world“ the port city of Hamburg, Germany, is a traditional center of international trade and international law. Already several hundred years ago merchants from Hamburg crossed the borders and participated in the first trade alliance with an uniform commercial law and an own jurisdiction - the „Hanseatic League“.

In this hanseatic spirit, in recent years participants of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) gathered in Hamburg for the Hanseatic Pre-Moot.

The problem of the 24th edition of the Vis Moot is featuring the Brazilian CAM-CCBC rules. Thus, we are very proud to announce that in 2017, the Pre-Moot will be sponsored for the first time by the CAM-CCBC.

The 1st CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot will take place in Hamburg with the further great support of several Hamburg law firms, the Hamburg Arbitration Circle and the Rechtsstandort Hamburg e.V as well as in cooperation with the Moot Alumni Association of the University of Hamburg.

The CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot will be preceded by the Hamburg Arbitration Day on 4th April 2017 jointly organized by the Bucerius Law School, CAM-CCBC and the Hamburg Arbitration Circle on the topic of "Interim Relief in - and in connection with Arbitration Proceedings". It will be held at the Bucerius Law School with the contribution of several prestigious speakers (inter alia Prof. Dr. Stefan Kröll, Prof. Dr. Nathalie Voser, Prof. Patricia Shaughnessy, Noah Rubins, Carlos Forbes (President CAM-CCBC)). On the following day, numerous pleading sessions will give the teams plenty of opportunity to practice and improve their presentations before heading to Vienna.

Various distinguished law firms located in Hamburg will offer their respective venues for the team pleadings including Taylor Wessing, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, White & Case LLP, Latham & Watkins LLP, CMS Hasche Sigle, Hanefeld Rechtsanwälte, Corinius LLP, GSK Stockmann, Graf von Westphalen, Brödermann Jahn, Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH and Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek.

During the past seven editions of the Hanseatic Pre-Moot, the participating teams came from all over Germany as well as from various different countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Iran, Poland, Serbia, Denmark and Sweden. Understanding that the success of the Pre-Moot highly depends on the participating teams, we will be pleased to welcome even more international teams next year to offer more diverse strategies, argumentations and cultural exchange between the participants.

Apart from the strong cooperation and commitment from different law firms as well as a high level of participating teams, the quality and preparation of arbitrators has always been one of the highlighting features of the Hanseatic Pre-Moot. Providing a professional and at the same time friendly environment to the participating teams, coaches and arbitrators, the CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot is a distinguished opportunity in the journey of the Vis Moot.

In 2017, the 1st CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot will take place from 4th to 5th April 2017.
