2nd CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot 2018

Hamburg, Germany, a gateway to the world with its huge shipping port, is a traditional centre of international trade and international law. Centuries ago, merchants from Hamburg crossed the borders and participated in the first trade alliance with an uniform commercial law and an own ju-risdiction - the "Hanseatic League".

In this hanseatic spirit, since 2009, every year participants of the Willem C. Vis International Com-mercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) gather in Hamburg for the Hanseatic Pre-Moot.

The 2nd CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot will take place in Hamburg with the support of the CAM CCBC, the Hamburg Arbitration Circle (HAC), the Moot Alumni Association of the University of Hamburg and twelve Hamburg law firms.

The 2nd CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot will be preceded by the Hamburg International Arbitra-tion Day on 20 March 2018 starting at 1.30 pm organized by the Bucerius Law School followed by an evening reception at the law firm Taylor Wessing with as fantastic view over the Harbour city and Elbphilharmonie. This international arbitration conference will be held at the Bucerius Law School (Jungiusstr. 6) with the contribution of several prestigious speakers. Please note that sepa-rate registration for the conference will be required, however no registration fee will be charged.

On 21 March 2018, approx. four pleading sessions will give the teams plenty of opportunity to practice and perfect their speech before heading to Vienna. A lunch will be served in the various Hamburg law firms. As a closing event, there will be an evening reception at the law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek.

The Premoot pleadings will be held in various distinguished law firms located in the Hamburg, all in the vicinity of the street “Neuer Wall” in the city center, including Brödermann Jahn, CMS Hasche Sigle, Corinius, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Hanefeld, Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, GSK Stockmann, Graf von Westphalen, Luther, SKW Schwarz, Taylor Wessing and White & Case. This gives the participating teams also the possibility to get into contact with these law firms and to get to know their offices and lawyers.

During the past eight editions of the Hanseatic Pre-Moot, the participating teams came from all over the world (i.a. Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, New Zealand, Paraguay, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, Sweden, United States) which guarantees a valuable exchange of diverse strategies, argumentations and cultural attitudes between the participants.

Apart from the strong cooperation and commitment from different law firms as well as a high level of participating teams, the quality and preparation of arbitrators has always been one of the high-lighting features of the Hanseatic Pre-Moot. Like in the previous year, not only arbitrators from the participating law firms and the Hanseatic Arbitration Circle, but also external arbitrators are most welcome to enrich the 2nd CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot.

Providing a professional and at the same time friendly environment to the participating teams, coaches and arbitrators, the CAM-CCBC Hanseatic Pre-Moot is a distinguished opportunity in the journey of the Vis Moot. We are looking forward to welcoming you and your team in Hamburg!
